DEFINITION EN 13809 OF THE EUROPEAN COMMITTEE FOR STANDARDISATION

  • Tourist Guide: Person, who guides visitors in the language of their choice and interprets the cultural and natural heritage of an area, which person normally possesses an area-specific qualification usually issued and/or recognised by the appropriate authority.
  • Tour Manager: Person, who manages and supervises the itinerary on behalf of the tour operator, ensuring the programme is carried out as described in the tour operator's literature and sold to the traveller/consumer and who gives local practical information.

(11) In the case of the professions covered by the general system for the recognition of qualifications, hereinafter referred to as "the general system", Member States should retain the right to lay down the minimum level of qulification required to ensure the quality of the services provided on their territory.

 

 

Half-day tours:

- up to 3 hours within Vienna,

- up to 4 hours outside Vienna,

incl. a max. of 2 hours' walking.

  • Does not apply to walks offered by walking tour companies and
  • to specialist services rendered by the tourist guide, such as interpretation/translation, visits to temporary exhibitions, or lectures. In these cases, higher fees may be negotiated.
  • Fees for the bus and entrance fees are not included.

 

Full day: double fees (also if a morning tour ends after 1:30 p.m.).

 

 

Conditions of cancellation:

* until two weeks before the engagement: 0,

* 14-3 days before the date: 50%,

* 3 days or less before the date: 100%

of the applicable tourist guide fee.
